CHICAGO, March 24, 2008

BCU Risk Advisors, a firm focused exclusively on providing personal risk management and consulting services to high-net worth individuals and families, has recently hired Debbie Dougherty and Denise Mattia to expand BCU’s client service capabilities in the Northeast. Dougherty and Mattia will concentrate on the Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington D.C. markets, as well as will provide direct support to BCU’s client activities in New York and Connecticut.

“Our firm is committed to providing unmatched service and risk management expertise to our clients. The cornerstone of this promise is hiring proven, tenured risk management experts with direct experience serving the affluent niche,” says BCU CEO Jeff Cline. “We will continue our investment in top talent, such as Dougherty and Mattia, as we look to further our geographic expansion and ultimately, better serve our clients.”

Prior to joining BCU, Dougherty and Mattia were key members of the Marsh Private Client Service business. Both held senior positions in Marsh’s Philadelphia office and bring with them a tremendous level of direct experience and insight in serving the affluent.

Wayne Salley, BCU Northeast Managing Director states, “BCU is truly fortunate to have attracted such professional caliber personal risk managers as Debbie Dougherty and Denise Mattia. In a world where client service appears to be taking a back seat, finding two individuals as client-focused as Dougherty and Mattia, is extremely rare. I welcome them to the team and look forward to working with them.”

BCU Risk Advisors Goes Live

A trio of executives from insurance firm Aon have left to launch BCU Risk Advisors, a risk management firm that solely services the wealthy—marking a first for an insurance broker to focus only on the family office and high-net-worth niche. Jeff Cline, CEO and former president of private risk management at Aon, said the group is financially backed by a Chicago-based family office Financial Investments Corp. and the Baldwin Connelly Group, a Florida-based insurance broker.

BCU will focus on the specific insurance needs of the rich, which includes insuring private aircraft, yachts, classic cars and homes, personal and professional liability, as well as personal security and other risk management services. The firm also has a specialty in insuring, appraising and handling inventory services for artwork and collectibles.

Cline and his partners wanted to launch the firm after seeing the increasing need for risk management. As liability concerns and specialty coverage needs grow, the rich seek more personalized services that larger firms may lack. “Maintaining continuity with employee and client relationships becomes more difficult the larger and more diversified a firm becomes,” Cline said. “We saw an opportunity to completely dedicate a business that exclusively focuses on the risk management needs of this client segment.”

Aon execs Bruce Billmeyer and Bill Uniowski have formed the firm with Cline, and assume the roles of Chief Marketing Officer and COO, respectively. The firm, which is headquartered in Chicago with offices in L.A., New York and Florida, will send out an announcement later this month to former clients, referral sources and select families. Cline is recruiting in its current markets to add staff, and hopes to grow the firm to be the leading provider of specialized risk management services for the affluent.
